Fantasy Football Playoffs Part One: The Brady Letdown

All year, Tom Brady has been dominating his opposition. The same can be said for fantasy football. So going into the playoffs last week with 2 Tom Brady Teams (1 Yahoo, 1 CBS Sportsline) and 1 Jeff Garcia team (that should have been a Kurt Warner team...hit head on wall times one thousand).

Yahoo projected 18 almost nineteen points for Brady for week 15. How many actual? 140 Yards and 1 Interception. That's it. That is all. Final score for the Yahoo playoff game? 75 - 105. I was not the 105. Joey Galloway had a bad day (though the Bucs game was VERY enjoyable to watch!), Nate Burleson 1 point, Jabar Gaffney, 0 points. Brian "Super Genius" Westbrook, 7 points (might have been 13...ahem...) Marshawn Lynch, 4 points and the MVP for the Offense? Tony freaking Scheffler...the TE. Even the kicker only racked up 2 points. The IDP scored 49...the offense only scored 25. I'm up for the 3rd place game...hopefully things will go slightly better this week, even though there is less enjoyement checking to see if you won 3rd place as opposed to 1st place.

The Other Brady team did just as bad losing 58 to 98. Brady only had 3 points here. Arron Stecker, Calvin Johnson, Jason Elam and the Packers Defense were the only real performers. Other players like Galloway, Marion Barber, Roddy White and Eric Johnson (like Brady) fell flat for week 15.

For the Garcia team...I should have started Warner. Garcia scored 7 some odd points and Warner scored 18 points. That one choice was the difference between at least winning one fantasy game.

Lesson learned for next year in December...pay attention to the weather...for even Tom Brady can not beat Mother Nature or Old Man Winter.

One slight hope left...my one remaining eligible playoff Peyton Manning helmed team is still alive after earning a first round bye...I'm playing the Carson Palmer owner. Tony Dungy is reported to say that he will not rest starters for week 16...but it may be a one half performance.

It's GO Time: Week 15 Fantasy Playoffs Week 1

It's that time of the fantasy football year. Some of your teams are like my Motormouths or Bay City Buccaneers -- eliminated from playoff contention and even consolation contention. In short, they had a Miami Dolphin type year.

Other teams didn't totally suck but sucked enough. Some of your teams, like NewEffect, StormFront or The Contenders, didn't get to the playoffs but they are in consolation (the NIT tourney of the fantasy football world).

Then you have the teams that you drafted the right QB's and RB's and also did enough work on the waiver wire and lo and behold...with a whole lot of luck thrown into the mix, you are like these teams and you are in the playoffs...having a Dallas Cowboys or Pittsburgh Steelers type year.

Here now are the teams tomorrow (and tonight and already maybe started on Thursday) that will be seeing which teams moves on and which team has their season end.

Redshirts (#1 Seed): In Action Week 15 Semis

QB Tom Brady

WR Galloway, Burleson, Gaffney

RB Westbrook, Lynch

Southland Bulls (#3 seed) In action week 15 Round 1

QB Warner (as of Sat 133PM EST)

RB Addai, M. Barber

WR Burress, Jennings

Afterburners Week 15 Round 1 Action

QB: Tom Brady

RB: A. Stecker, M. Barber

WR: C. Johnson, J. Galloway

Tampa Thunder (#1 seed) Bye from Round 1 action for WK15

QB Peyton Manning

RB Graham, Portis

WR Moss, Galloway

We'll see tomorrow who survives to play another day.

Week 14: Fantasy Football Final Fallout For Sunday – Playoffs NEXT week!

The 12 – 1 Redshirts lead their matchup 118 – 70. All my players are final but they still have Drew Brees and Colston from the Saints which makes tonight no relevant reality game very relevant fantasy wise. Brady and Westbrook led the offense while Galloway and Johnson and Edge dissapointed for week 14.

The 9 – 2 Tampa Thunder is projected to beat their opposition 139 to 72. Peyton Manning, Earnest Graham as well as the Colts Defense lead the way as the Thunder are headed for their 10th win of the season.

The 7 – 4 Stormfront that still MIGHT make the playoffs are trailing their opposition 77 – 133 but in this match up I still have Drew Brees to play. Earnest Graham, Wes Welker and Steven Jackson all lead the offense. The Stormfront HAVE to win other wise it will be a toss up if they get into the post season. Even if they win it’s probably going to be a toss up anyway.

The Southland Bulls 7 - 3 crushed their opposition 156 – 84. Check this lineup out: Warner, Addai, Barber, Jennings AND the Seahawks Defense. All players are final.

The Afterburners 9 – 4 trail in a close one 126 – 132 with Roddy White (he might win it for me) and Eric Johnson (oh…sure, he is really going to have a big game…not…)still to play. All of their players are final.

Locally the Bucs got spanked and the Dolphins lost again, so much for clinching the division this week.

Back To Fantasy!

Greetings to the five people who actually read this blog : - ) Colds are wonderful, aren't they (bleh :P)

Anyhow, back to fantasy.

Quick update as of before Sundays games...I actually have 1 Yahoo team in the playoffs, 3 Fleaflicker teams and my CBS sportsline team. After this Sunday we'll find out if that holds and two frustrating devlopments for this week: Reggie Bush is out (also projected to be out for the season as well...not widely confirmed yet...doesn't sound good AND Joey Galloway is questionable for Week 14 but is expected to play.)

Also: Plaxico is on the bench after his two previous dissapointing weeks.

Picks for today:

Bucs - 3

Jags/Panthers (38.5) OVER

Bills - 7.0

Giants

Upset Special #1 Rams

Upset Special #2 Steelers

Browns

Colts

Saints

NHL - All the underdogs

Week 12 Part II

Week 12 began while everyone was preparing turkey or preparing to eat turkey.

For the Redshirts (10 – 1), however, 3 players shined through the holiday competition:

Jason Hanson (who scored more then John Kitna fantasy wise), Calvin Johnson and Arron Kampman lead the charge for turkey day and the RedShirts are holding off the Carpetbaggers (including one IDP Michael Boley who scored 17 points) 38 - 30.

For Tampa Thunder (8 – 1), Peyton and the Colts Defense scored all the points as they served up the Atlanta Falcons for the final course of the day as the Tampa Thunder produced all the points Thursday leading 38 – 0. Will it be enough?

And for the remaining 1st place team, The Afterburners (7 – 4) had Calvin Johnson & surprisingly Roddy White and the Packers Defense contributing to help balance out against Peyton Manning (on the other team in this match up). They lead 38 to 26 going into tomorrow’s games.

And just a little humor from punoftheday.com…

A lumberjack who couldn't hack it was given the axe.

Week 11 Fantasy Fallout Final

Welcome to the first of the short weeks as we enter crunch time for those of us that are positioning for playoffs (insert Jim Mora soundbite here) in our respective leagues. Here are the standings after week 11 and the Broncos beat the Titans.

The Redshirts win their week 11 matchup in a close one, 116 – 105. The line for The Redshirts is: 10-1-0 .909 1178.50 W-10. The Redshirts have a 2 game lead as the league leader.

The Tampa Thunder are 8 – 1, their line: PF928.15 PA722.75 (2-0) W3. They have clinched a wildcard spot.

The Afterburners are 7 – 4 after winning (thanks to Tom Brady’s Sunday touchdown explosion!) their week 11 matchup and are alone in first place.

The New Effect are still somehow alive for the playoffs after winning their game thanks mostly to TO’s 41 point fest The New Effect are in 5Th place but have to continue the winning streak to keep playoff hopes alive. The line for the New Effect is: 5-6-0 .455 1029 W-1

Week 11 Fantasy Fallout

Once again it was a weird week. I added about 26 fan IQ points with my picks on Fan IQ and fantasy this week just didn’t add up where you though it would…unless you had Brady, Romo, Moss or Owens. I was lucky to have Brady and moss separately on a couple teams.

Playoff Contention:

The Redshirts

Currently trail their opposition 102 – 105 with at least 2 IDP’s to play on Monday Night Football. The Redshirts hold 1st place with a record of 9 – 1. I’m playing the 2nd place team for week 11.

Tampa Thunder

In a division game, the Tampa Thunder lead their opposition 112 – 50. They still have the Broncos Defense to play, all my players are final. The Tampa Thunder currently hold 1st place in their division.

AfterBurners

Lead their opposition 92 – 91 with Jason Elam to play. Opposition’s players are all final. Elam is probable with a right calf injury. The Afterburners are locked in a first place tie with another team.

Notables from Sunday:

Tom Freaking Brady, Randy Moss & TO (even though the fantasy team he’s on has no chance at the playoffs).

How are the Buffalo Bills feeling today?

OH...and GO BUCS! Anyone up for fried Falcons today?

His Time Come Round At Last

They nailed Al Capone with tax evasion...Barry Bonds is indicted for purjury (for saying that he did not use what everyone knows that he used.)

Here is some of the coverage:

Slugger Bonds charged with lying

Federal grand jury indicts Bonds

Barry Bonds indicted in BALCO case by Federal Grand Jury

Wiki was updated pretty quickly

Of course no mention of this on Barry Bonds.com...

And finally, just because ESPN jammed 756 down everyone's throats...

Odds And Ends 11/15

And you think your cell phone bill is high... How about one for 10,000$?

Political correctness invades yet another aspect of the Christmas season...

And speaking of texting...you can now text message Papa John's your order...

And it's plane to see that this is news...

Week 10 FF Wrap Up

The week 10 fantasy massacre is thankfully over. It’s not all bad but the Tampa Bay – New England bye week was bad enough. Let’s get to the post mortem, shall we?

Yahoo! Teams:

The Contenders win their matchup 65 - 58 and move up to 4th place!

Studs: Drew Brees, Reggie Bush

Duds: Plaxico Buress, Minnestota Defense (nice –1 fellas)

The Redshirts win a very close contest 102 – 101. The Redshirts are alone in 1st place.

Studs: Brian Westbrook (3 TDS!), Jason Campbell (who would have thought, THAT?) E.J. Henderson (IDP)

Duds: Calvin Johnson, Chris Chambers, Nate Burleson, Tony Scheffler. (I won in spite of my WR's. You guys are killing my point production. Take 50 extra virtual laps around the field, now!)

NewEffect loses their matchup 68 – 94. They aren’t quite as bad as the Dolphins but close as they drop to 7th place. Not mathmatically elimnated but close.

Studs: Terell Owens (fianally!), Bush and Kitna

Duds: Everyone else.

Fleaflicker teams:

Tampa Thunder survive a scare, 89 – 83. The Tampa Thunder now have a 2 game lead in their division.

Studs: Peyton Manning (even with the 6 Ints), Portis, Jermery Shockey, Colts Defense

Duds: Everyone else

Stormfront put up a good fight but still lose, 55 – 62. The Stormfront have to win next week as they are in a three-way tie for 2nd place.

Studs: Drew Brees, Bears Defense

Duds: Everyone else (nice job with the –0.2 Hester & the 1 point Vinetari!)

Southland Bulls lose their matchup 51 – 79. The Bulls still have a one game lead in their division.

Studs: Seahawks Defense

Duds: The whole rest of the entire stinking team.

CBS Sportsline:

Afterburners (NFL) lose in their matchup 70 – 114. The Afterburners are now in a 2-way tie for first place.

Studs: Bengals Defense, R. Bush.

Duds: Everyone else.

Afterburners (NCAA FB 1 – A) win in their matchup 229 – 162.

Studs: Colt Mccoy, Callander and Kevin Smith take the contest!

Fantasy Sharks:

Bay City Buccaneers lose in their matchup 84 – 122, they are 2nd place in their division…somehow…

Injury concerns:

Marshawn Lynch is out this week and Plaxico Buress still has an ongoing knee injury.

Overall Standings:

Redshirts 9-1-0 .900 1062.00

Tampa Thunder 7 - 1 815.8 ( 1 – 0)

Afterburners 6 – 4 (Tied for first)

In Contention:

Contenders 6-4-0 .600 769 4 of 10

Southland Bulls 5 - 2 .714 558.65 (3 – 0)

Stormfront 5 - 3 .625 566.6 (1 - 2)

Bay City Buccaneers 4-6-0 .400 4.0 L2 861 (2-2-0) (Somehow these guys are 2nd in the West and 4 games behind. It is going to take a miracle, sports fans.)

Studs and Duds Weak, Er, Week 10

Yahoo! Studs:

Contenders - No one

Redshirts - Westbrook (#1), Jason Campbell (!!!) , Marshawn Lynch, IDPS, E.J. Henderson

NewEffect - TO (#1), Rob Bironas

Fleaflicker Studs:

Tampa Thunder - Jermer Shockey, Portis, P. Manning

StormFront - Bears Defense, Drew Brees

Southland Bulls - No one

Afterburners - Bengals D

Biggest DUDS Of The Day - Plaxico Buress, Joseph Addai, Devin Hester, Chris Chambers, Calvin Johnson and some more I'll probably add later. That was horrible in the worst way.

2 0f 3 Contenders Still Alive For Win For Weak, er Week 10

The Afterburners lost taking their record to 6 - 4 the Redshirts are in a dead heat almost tie and the Tampa Thunder actually leads by 2 with all Sunday games done. And that was one crazy wacky day in football!

Cleveland almost won but Derek Anderson had a banner day.

Brett Farve continued to kick ass shutting out the Vikings 34 - zilch.

Jay Culter (like who would have thunk he would have been a good start today?) lead the Broncos to a win.

Drew Brees redeemed himself in the loss with his second half performance and is Marc Bulger fantasy relevant again?

TO's stats finally matched his mouth (which is yapping less this year) as Dallas KO'ed the Giants and Plax had an off day.

And who would have thought that Peyton Manning would throw five interceptions, almost come back but still lose thanks to a little moronic officiating and Adam Vinetari missing a chip shot go ahead field goal? I mean really, who would have forseen ANY of all this and all that I still did not mention crazy stuff going down today?

1 Day Till Week (Ouch) Ten

Three of my teams stand atop in their leagues...and those same three teams are effected by Tampa and New England having bye weeks this week.

Here are the (ouch, again) match ups I'm worried about...

Redshirts 8 - 1 Backup QB Jason (hoo, boy) Campbell vs. Philly. Let's hope Philly continues being Philly. Backs on this team are Edge and Marshawn Lynch along with Calvin Johnson, double C Chris Chambers and Nate Burleson.

Afterburners 6 - 3 also have Brady and the Bye...Brian Griese hopefully will put up decent numbers against the Raiders even with the interception threat. Marion Barber and Bush are the backs and the same 2 WR's are on the team with No. 3 here being Roddy White.

My third top placed team has Peyton Manning as the QB BUT the backs/receiving core is the problem here with Graham and Moss both out...I've got TJ as WR 1 but David Patten from waiver land for number two. Backs are Portis and Marion Barber.

It's going to be close...and we're getting ready to cringe, fellow fantasy fanatics.

Fan IQ Update: Red for the first time in the NHL this week and green (just a little) in NBA.

NBX update: Let's just forget it, shall we... (yes, that bad.)
The Lightning finally snapped the road streak losing blues last night!

And the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are now just The Rays

Good day again in Fan IQ yesterday both green again for NBA and NHL. My NBX picks are sucking on the other hand.

2 more days until week 10 bye hell week in fantasy football. I'm actually starting Jason Campbell on one of my teams.

Mishmash Post...

Looks like the 7th season of 24 is on hold along with many other shows...so I offer up as the emergency plot:

24: Season 6.5

Jack Bauer is called in by the President to put a stop to the writers strike. In the first episode, Jack goes to a sportsbar to forget about the last seasons ending and somehow winds up in a fight with Pacman Jones, currently on "vacation" from the NFL.

And kids are getting detention for hugging friends...I can imagine the following scene in a typical dentention session:

Kid #1: I was late for class...what are you in for?

Kid #2: I hugged my friends.

From the insanity of the headline news to the insanity of sports.

I'm still dreading week 10 with folks like Brady, Moss, Garcia and even yes Earnest Graham on a bye...but still...

How about this Rogers stiff arm of Young (and did Young LOSE any fantasy points for that?)

Fan IQ Report:

Another good day!

NBA: 5 - 3 (Miami lost by 10 and Kobe didn't whine about anything)

NHL: 6 - 2 (And the Lightning finally broke the losing streak. Hopefully they won't create another one.)

Quick Blast Results For WK 9

Everyone save for the Bay City Buccaneers won. Afterburners somehow won by 2 points! All the Yahoo teams and the Fleaflicker teams WON!

Now comes the hard part with so many Tampa and New England players...I will hope to not get trashed too badly this week...

Monday Morning Week 9 Almost All Final Gamecheck:

Both still have IDP’s to play, all offense players final

TheNewEffect are projected to win their match up 123 – 75

Fleaflicker:

Tampa Thunder leads some weird team name 125 – 80

Me: All players final

Them: Still to play, D. Mason and Ravens D

Stormfront are projected to win their match up

Southland Bulls lead someone whom obviously doesn’t how how to spell 100- 64 with the Grashoppers having Heath Miller still to play.

Afterburners and Bay City Buccaneers look like their going to lose their match ups.

Week 9 Matchup Concerns

Here are some of the fantasy decisions I'm mulling over have made (but am not reversing...that's the hardest thing on Sunday morning...decisions, decisions)

Contender Questionables:

Starting Derek Anderson v. Seattle (12th against passing) as opposed to Drew Brees v. Jacksonville 16th against passing) honestly Brees may be on fire...but Anderson has had the better year so far. Brees has 89 points to Andersons 138 (!)

Update: Drew would have been the better choice but Anderson had a decent day.

Starting Shaun Alexander...even against Cleveland's 25th ranked D...but Alexander has been pretty rank himself in fantasy this year.

Update: He sucks this year, sorry Shaun...

Redshirts:

Starting Marshawn Lynch OVER Westbrook...however Lynch goes up against the Bengals who give up as many points as they score and Westy goes up against the Cowboys who are ranked 5TH against the rush.

NewEffect:

Garcia edges out Kitna barely in matchups as Arizona and Denver are both tough against the pass. Garcia, in this league, has had a better fantasy year so far with 104 points while Kitna has 89 points.

Update: Kitna would have been a marginally better start. Both QB's had decent days.

Tampa Thunder:

Am I really worried about how Peyton Manning and Randy Moss are going to do as their teams collide for this colossal contest?

Update: Nope, plus good game to boot...other then the outcome. Thanks for staying classy after the game again, BB.

Stormfront/Southland Bulls:

Kenton Keith v Kenny Watson is the biggest question answered with both different outcomes thanks to both teams. (Wait, what? Drink some more caffine and you'll get it.)

Update: Both of them were pretty quiet production wise today.

Just a few questions and later today we shall indeed know the answers.

And you have to give Florida State major props and high fives for knocking off #2 Boston College yesterday!

Triple Triple On Fan IQ

Last night the NBA (7 - 6) lead my picks at a whopping 14.50 points, followed by College Football (1 - 0) action in at 5 points and bringing up the rear was the NHL (5 - 1) with 4.5 points. Rare night with all green and NO RED!

And just 1 day until the biggest NFL game of the regular season with Tom "I Love Babes" Brady and Peyton "I'll Sell Anything" Manning getting it on (maybe I shouldn't say getting it on with Brady in the same sentence...) in the RCA Dome where Peyton is king.

Until then...

Can USF get it together and win?

(Um...nope.)

Can Florida recover from last week?

(Yeppers...and how!)

And does Notre Dame stand a chance of actually winning today against Navy?

(Close but no cigar...)

We'll all see today, fellow football fans!

(And the Lightning lost again...this time at HOME to the Thrashers!)

Lightning Road Woes Continue

The Bolts drop another one on the road and a small suprise (along with Lebron biting the dust tonight --- must be that Yankees cap karma) is that my NBA scores for fan IQ are at 13 and my NHL score is at .50! We'll see what the update is tomorrow.

Wednesday Quick Wire Burst

Week 9 is killing my rosters with all the byes. I actually had to pickup Vernon Davis (shudder) to fill in and this time I AM starting Drew Brees every chance I get.

Did well in Fan Iq with Hockey but sucked with basketball, no real suprise there.

Fantasy Football Week 8 And Other Stuff...

Just like fantasy Contenders will lose their matchup by one point, my Bucs lost to the Jaguars by one point and both are now officially .500 teams. I'll be able to come back to fantasy football next year but will Coach Gruden be back if this trend keeps up?

Redshirts have a shot with a their opposition only having a DB Furgeson (Green Bay) and Donald Driver (Green Bay) and lead their opposition 125 to 86. Remember, much like a Chicago Bears attempt to come back in the fourth quarter is not a given two weeks in a row, neither is this matchup "in the bag"

The NewEffect with the talent will more then likely move up 4 - 4 and is having a dissapointing season, kind of like the Bengals.

Tampa Thunder will no longer be undefeated in a close one but will distinguish themselves better then the Dolphins in London (proving that they are horrible in two countries)

Stormfront will more then likely move to .500 but still scored more then the J-E-T-S and three points.

Southland Bulls stand a good chance to go 4 - 1 surviving Travis Henry on MNF, not quite a Colts or Patriots type lead...we'll see tonight.

The Afterburners have a shot leading 92 to 61 but again with Travis Henry on the opposition (listed as questionable) and Elam on my team to play...we'll hope that Henry has about as many points as whomever G. Holt is on the Bengals.

And the suprising Bay City Buccaneers have a chance to actually have a winning record for the first time this season leading their matchup 100 - 75 with with the oppostion having Brandon Jackson to play, this matchup will be close. The BCB have come out of nowhere, like the NY Football Giants.

Things learned this weekend in sports:

USF needs some help...

USC is human (So are the Gators)

Tom Brady and the Pats can pretty much kick just about anyone's posterior. Week 9 will be the litmus test for Brady, Moss and whomever is at the running back position.

The Buccaneers are really a .500 team with losses to the Lions and now the Jaguars with a backup QB that no one ever heard of.

The Dolphins can suck in 2 countries.

Even with the heralded return of Steven Jackson...the Rams can still lose. Which team (Dolphins or Rams) will get the 1st draft pick next year?

The Bengals suck.

The Lions are pretty good...

There is a pretty big game in Tony Town next week, not that you've heard much about it or anything.

The Red Sox are a pretty good team...not even the Indians or Rockies could stop them as they are now (like it or not) World Champions for 2007.

Week 8 Fantasy Football (and real football too...)

Good news, good news from my FanIQ predictions yesterday. I went 17 - 7 for College Football, 6 - 6 in Hockey (it's better then going 1 - 4) 0 - 1 with the World Series (The Rockies at least tried...) and in one fantasy football league I'm taking a roll of the dice that Derek Anderson is going to score big. I'm taking the Red Sox tonight...4 - 0 sweep in the WS is not unheard of with the BoSox getting it done last night AWAY from Fenway Park last night.

Some Fantasy starts that I'm keeping track of today:

The Redshirts (6-1, #2 In League):

Will Tom Brady have a good a day against the suprising defensively minded Redskins after blasting the fish in Maimi?

We're going with Galloway Vs. Jaguars, Calvin Johnson Vs. Bears, and the newest Charger, Chris Chambers against Houston and whomever is going to be at QB.

For running backs it's also a gamble with Brian Westbrook and Marshawn Lynch (The Jets suck).

For The Tampa Thunder (5 - 0, Redraft team) It's Peyton "PR" Manning at QB, Portis and Graham (yes, that Graham from Tampa) at RB, Moss and TJ at WR, Shockey TE, Brown K and Colts as the DST.

Good Old Hockey Game #1

Yesterday the ol' FSF went 1 - 4 with my NHL picks. Let's see how horrible I can be today :P

(All odds at NBX.com, NBX Classic fantasy betting lines)

I'm Taking the +105 Sharks, -176 Penguins, +166 Canadians, +165 Rangers, -101 Hurricanes, -148 Senators, -105 Bruins (because they are at home, Flyers are also -105 in this pick em matchup), -148 Lightning (GO BOLTS!), +126 Stinking Panthers, -154 Blackhawks, -160 Blues, +151 Oilers for the heck of it, -154 Stars

Total: 5 Underdogs, 7 favorites, 1 Pick Em Even Odds Game

Go USF Bulls and hope all Florida teams do well today on College Football Saturday!

BoSox lead 2 - 0, Lightning finally rebound and win against Caps

It was a pitchers duel for game 2 and now the BoSox are leaving the safe confines of Fenway. We'll see how they do in the home run derby of baseball parks. I'm taking the over for the next two games.

And the Bolts jumped in quickly last night in the first period and hung on to win as Tampa edges up to an 8 - 5 record.

And remember, when dressing up for a masquerade, disguise the limit!

Motormouth Minute

After fantasy football fanatics everywhere scrambled on the waiver wire for Jessie Chatman...it was time to see if the Rockies could rock one red hot Josh Beckett. Apparently Beckett is a man on a mission as the BoSox pounded and pummeled the Rockies 13 - 1. Beckett's very impressive line for game one: 7.0 6 1 1 1 9 0 1.29 while the Rockies pretty much went through their bullpen during the Red Sox batting practice. This does not bode well for the Rockies as a tired bullpen will be facing Manny and Ortiz again for game 2 (plus the forty million other Red Sox that are able to crush the longball). This World Series main storyline will be a tired Rockies bullpen being pasted by the Red Sox offense.

And this time, I did NOT pick against Beckett. Out of the MLB WBSC 2007? Yes. Pick against Beckett again? Heck, no.

Hopefully, the Bucs can rebound against freshly slaughtered Jaguar team thanks to the Colts. (Dear Jags, we know it sucks to go up against the Colts. Signed, The Bucs Defense.) Peyton Manning probably has about 3 more tv ads to shoot before they rip apart the Panthers (um, go Colts in this case...the um was on purpose...)

And that was your Motormouth Minute...we now return you to your regularly scheduled day of insanity and mayhem.

Week 7 FINAL Results

Yahoo Games

The Contenders are losing their matchup 67 - 77. Brees, Bush and Roddy White all stepped up while Shaun Alexander was a dissapointment and might have cost me the matchup. I doubt TE Lewis will get 12 points tonight.

(Contenders LOST their matchup and yeah...how about ONE point...)

TheRedshirts WON their matchup 138 - 94. Hard league scoring wise but with Brady on the team and a few others carrying their weight, enough said.

The New Effect Won 94 to 89, thank you Joesph Addai!

Fleaflicker Teams

Tampa Thunder Won 150 to 108 and is now 5 - 0!

Stormfront Won 94 to 60!

The Southland Bulls tried to come back but not enough as they lose 139 to 73.

Yahoo Leagues Week 7: 2 - 1

Fleaflicker Leagues Week 7: 2 - 1

Bay City Buccaneers actually WIN 76 to 55 and are tied for 2, if you can believe THAT!

The Afterburners also won 125 to 90!

Total fantasy football record for week 7: 6 - 2!

We'll break everything down in posts ahead...here's hoping your fantasy fallout was just as good!

Cleveland's Curse

I did not realize how bad the curse of Cleveland is...from Wikipedia:

Main article: Curse of Rocky Colavito
There is an alleged curse on the city of Cleveland, Ohio that prevents them from winning a major sports championship. To this date, it has been arguably the biggest sports championship drought in any U.S. city. The last Cleveland title came in 1964 when the Browns won the NFL Championship, before that game was known as the Superbowl. The Cleveland Indians last won the World Series in 1948 and the Cleveland Cavaliers have never won the NBA Finals, most recently losing in 2007 to the San Antonio Spurs (See "The Sweep," below). Some of their most infamous failures have been dubbed a title, often with a single word preceded by an ominous "The." Amongst locals and even sports fans in general, The Catch, The Drive, The Shot, The Fumble, and The Sweep all evoke images of Cleveland sports futility. Less famous outside of Cleveland, Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, is commonly referred as The Error. Red Right 88 does not share the nomenclature, but the heartache is the same. Only time will tell if the 2007 ALCS will be reduced to the name of "The Stop Sign" in Cleveland folklore due to Kenny Lofton being held up at third base when he likely would have scored the tying run in the late innings of Game 7.

Cleveland's misery is so detailed, that in 2004, ESPN named Cleveland the most tortured sports city.[4]

The cause for Cleveland's misery is not 100% agreed upon, although some trace it to either Rocky Colavito's departure to the Detroit Tigers in 1960, or Jim Brown's stunning retirement from the NFL in 1965 to produce the World War II film The Dirty Dozen.

Bloggers Note: That game seven breaking the curse for Cleveland didn't work out so well. Talk about some major pain, ouch!

Week 7 Preliminary Results

With all games other then (penalities suck) Monday Night Final (good job fumbling in the Red Zone, Bucs) here's how week 7 panned out.

Yahoo Games

The Contenders are losing their matchup 67 - 77. Brees, Bush and Roddy White all stepped up while Shaun Alexander was a dissapointment and might have cost me the matchup. I doubt TE Lewis will get 12 points tonight.

TheRedshirts are leading their matchup 138 - 79. hard league scoring wise but with Brady on the team and a few others carrying their weight, enough said.

The New Effect is losing 84 to 89 BUT Joesph Addai is still to play.

Fleaflicker Teams

Tampa Thunder leads their matchup 116 - 108 with Manning and Keith left to play.

Stormfront leads their matchup 72 to 46. Intersting matchup for MNF though...I have Keith and Vinatieri, opposition has Jones-Drew and Keading.

The Southland Bulls are getting spanked 49 - 127. So unless Addai and Keith get 100,000 points tonight, I'm probably not going to win this one...just a guess.

Shaun Alexander is getting less studly each week for fantasy football folks.

BoSox Assualt/Addai and Keith V Jags/Bucs Busts Or Burst Outs?

Just a quick blogging blast here as the Indians are asking on this Sunday morning...what the (bleep) was that? Naturally, I had a feeling that the game was over in the first inning after that grand slam from the most unlikely of Red Sox in the bottom of the first, J.D. Drew. Final smackdown, er, score...12 - 2. I can see the conversation with a certain Indian fan tomorrow...

Me: What happened last night?

Them: We still have one more game.

Ah, well. On to maybe (hope not) another Red Sox comeback, bleh.

On to football...the biggest question tomorrow (besides is Drew Brees back and how badly do the Dolphins really suck?) is how will the Addai/Keith combo perform against the very suprising Jags? One of the biggest braincramps suffered by fantasy owners this week is who will get the more snaps and if it is 50/50 for Addai/Keith...whom do you start? One team I'm actually starting BOTH...so we'll see how that goes.

On to the Bucs...all we can hope is for a miracle from the defense...Jeff Garcia to continue being Jeff Garcia and a low scoring game so the Bucs can pull something out of somewhere yet again! The Bucs are not a score 48 points like a team fron Boston area can do.

And finally as a bonus question...will TO actually do more ON the field then OFF the field this week? Probably not...and I'm saying that even against Maimi he'll have one or two dropped passes that are key.

May all you picks and fantasy matchups work out right (unless, of course, you are playing against me this week!)

Stay Crazy!

Bye, bye NBX 2007 WBSC/USF

My mind said don't bet against Josh Beckett. Actually, I belive my mind SCREAMED don't bet against Josh Beckett. So what did I do? I bet against Josh Beckett. I bet EVERYTHING, all 300,000 plus some odd points, that somehow the Indians hitters could figure out and hit Beckett. After looking at the final score from yesterday, we all know how that gambit went.

So Sammy Morris is out for a month for about 4 of my fantasy teams and there goes the MLB WBSC for 2007. I'm still cheering for the Indians unless they let the Red Sox come back from a 3 - 1 lead. If the BoSox some manage to win this series, I'll just have to start cheering for the Colorado Rockies. Yes, there is a baseball team in Colorado.

The other dissapointment last night was the end of USF's chances at a BCS National Championship. Close game and yes, that one touchdown being called back was the play of the game. They lost by only 2 points, but they still lost. Watch for USF to sink in the polls and drop like a rock. I'm still cheering for green and gold to win the Big East outright.

On and Looney on FSR, that USF is full of bull crack wasn't funny. I usually like your quips...but that one...bleh.

NBX MLB WBSC/Morris Ouch

That's right it is all up to the Indians outwitting a tired Josh Beckett and both pitchers are up on the mound after short rest. This is the second time I will be going "all in" and all my fantasy sports betting championship hopes for this round ride on the Cleveland Indians sweeping the Boston Red Sox tonight! Hopefully, Big Papi won't have a big home run and Manny will be kept silent (in more ways then one, hopefully). 300,000 some odd points all rest tonight on game 5 of the ALCS!

Fantasy football players every where recieved some bummer news this week as dependable stud fill in back Sammy Morris of the Patriots will be out at least a month. Time to either hope that Foster gets something going in Carolina, Marion Barber gets off the schnide in Dallas or ditto for Rudi Johnson. Either that or N. Davenport of the Steelers is going to be very popular all of a sudden...or maybe even *shudder* Earnest Graham of the Bucs.

Anyone remember Ladell Betts nice run for a couple of weeks last season?

Every team but Afterburners can win

That is correct, fellow fantasy fanatics! Every single team (even the Fantasy Sharks team!!!) other then my Afterburners team actually have a shot to win this week. We'll fill you in tomorrow...

Also in college fantasy football my one team (Afterburners, college division) won their match-up 209 - 170. Player of the game, Colt McCoy (4 PaTD, 298 PaYd, 2 RuTD, 104 RuYd)

Thankfully, my opposition played the Florida Gators as their DST...and they were on a bye week, oops.

Worst part was haring that sleeper stud Sammy Morris left with a chest injury in yesterdays game with the Cowboys (How about them...NOT!)

Key Fantasy Players Week 6

Plaxico Buress: Listed as Questionable, going up a weak Altanta team, can he continue to produce even with his ankle injury?

Verdict: 97 ReYd, ReTD (43), another WR1 (maybe WR2 in some leagues depending on the scoring system) type performance! Only threat is his injury and ongoing "Questionable" status every week...the Westbrook syndrome.

Joey Galloway: Is he a good start as Garcia's only viable WR option and how badly will the banged up backs syndrome hit the Buccaneers today?

Verdict: Probably could have done better, maybe a WR3 this week...but got yards and a TD.

TO: The battle of the 81's...will we really need our popcorn or will Moss blow by TO with the stats? I also think two undefeated teams are going at it today...not that you've heard much about that or anything.

Verdict: Sadly also a WR 3, 66 yards and a TD is getting on the board but not popcorn worthy. Pssst, TO...your team lost dude!

Tom Brady: Is Dallas the first real challenge for the Patriots this year? Can Brady do it again? Which genius didn't schedule this game for Sunday or Monday night football?

Verdict: Tom Brady is a scoring machine, 388 yards, 5 TD's...holy crap! MVP of the week again!

T. J. Houshmandzadeh: Can the Bengals get their heads out of their butts and get over themselves?

Verdict: WR1 land back again TJ! 145 Yards and 2 TD's! Nice 42 yard catch btw, TJ! The Bengals still lost...but at least the offense was working again!

Drew Brees: Is there any hope for Brees or the Saints this season, any hope at all?

Verdict: Hope springs eternal! 246 yards, 2 TD's and you get the win! Nice to have you back Mister Brees! Please, can this Drew Brees hang around?

Edge: Can he recapture some of his Indy glory against a banged up Carolina team that actually signed Vinny Testaverde?

Verdict: At least he scored decently but RB2 land this week with 80 yards and a TD. Maybe not LT numbers but this is the first week LT has been LT in 2007 also.

USF WINS AGAIN!

USF demolished, destroyed and decimated the UCF Knights (it obviously wasn't their day) 62 - 12 at Raymond James Stadium!

ATS Picks For Week 6 in the NFL

Cincinnati Bengals -3
Houston Texans +6.5
Cleveland Browns -4.5
Minnesota Vikings +5.5
Philadelphia Eagles -2.5
Baltimore Ravens -10
Tennessee Titans +3
Washington Redskins +3
Arizona Cardinals -3.5
New England Patriots -4
Oakland Raiders +10
Seattle Seahawks -6.5
New York Giants -3.5

Apparently, I am not the only one frustrated with how this fantasy football season is headed; that Drew Brees pick at QB is doing wonders with at least two of my teams :P

And am I the only Buccaneer fan really worried that Earnest Graham is our starting back this week with Williams out for the season and Pittman shelved for quite a while?

First major suspension of 2007 for NHL...

Hope that Philadelphia Flyers forward Jesse Boulerice
isn't on your fantasy Hockey team...looks like his "style" (I use that term loosely) of cross checking just earned him a vacation of 25 games courtesy of the NHL.

(I submitted a short link/write up for Fan IQ on this story and it was made a featured link for the day!)

ALCS: Indians Must Split 1st Pair

Just a quick prediction regarding the Tribe (now my official team of choice) they must split at least one of the two first match-ups against Beckett and Schilling. Look where getting down 0 - 2 got the Yankees. That is the key factor of this series. If the Tribe does not split, they the Sox take the series in six or seven games. The other secondary note is that if the Tribe can't pound the heck out of Dice K's ERA...then it's most likely going to be the BoSox moving on.

Thought for the day: When someone actually is nice and helps you out, at least thank them.

3 Teams still in the mix

Week 5 is here and the Bay City Buccaneers (Sharks) , The Motormouths (Fox) & The New Effect are in the cellar.

The Stormfront, AfterBurners and The Contenders are in the mix and have a shot but things need to bounce their way.

The Redshirts, Tampa Thunder and The Southland Bulls stand atop the FSF's fantasy pack. We'll update with more specifics next post, so our teams specific future, unlike Joe Torre's, won't be in doubt. Major props to Byrd and the Indians for Ousting the Yanks and having the right moves and not the Wang Moves.

Blog Changes

I've added some widgets to turn this into a virtual sports hangout. There's a guestbook to say hi (be nice, it's moderated) an NFL sports standings widget to either cringe or celebrate based on how your team is doing, fantasy hockey news, baseball playoff results (thanks for nothing, Cubbies, after I adopt you for this playoff season. Not even making it out of the first round...bleh. Here's hoping someone OTHER then the Yankees or BoSox win!) and sports stories from all sports just to round out my hangout on the web!

GO USF! Let's bounce back BUCS! Here we go Lightning, here we go! (And Rays...spend some freaking money and get some pitching...THANK YOU!)

Myspace...

In case you popped over hear to find out why I'm taking down the Myspace page, it's just because of life going in a different direction. I'll still be blogging endlessly about sports here. I'm also scaling back the podcast and might do the Youtube websast every once in a while. Email me (in about me) if you want to know more!

1st day of MLB Playoffs...And He's not a pearl...

And my adopted playoff team, the Cubbies, are down 0 - 1 in the NLDS. Why Pinella pulled "Z" at 85 pitches, we just shrug our shoulders.

And the Phillies now down 0 - 1 also got a little of the wind suck out of their sails.

At least the Red Sox won with a dominating performance by John Beckett. My NBX MLB WBSC first day was, of course, 1 - 2 with fantasy sports betting. The BoSox winning put me back close to where I started.

And moving to fantasy football quickly...for all those like me that jumped at Alvin Pearlman (the 3rd string RB after Maurice Morris on the Seahawks) - so how's that working out? Not well appearently...as the RB was just placed on Injured Reserve.

Hope you haven't "reclaimed" your girlfriend's car from a impound lot recently...and even an 8 hour course can turn Michael Vick into an animal lover...at least according to PETA.

Another day of fighting for truth, justice and pulling your own weight!

(Editors Addition: Hey Lou, if the Cubbies keep playing like THIS...there will not be a game 4 to save the "Z" for!!!)

Week 4 Matchup Monitor

The Pretenders (1 - 2) are trailing their opposition 47 to 48. Good news: I still have Sammy Morris (NE RB) to play. Bad news: Opposition has Carson Palmer.

(The .500tenders WON a close matchup 65 - 59, Their record now stands at 2 - 2)

The Redshirts trail their oppostion 50 - 56. Good news: I still have Tom Brady to play. Better news: All of the oppositions players are FINAL! We might have a shot at this one!

(UPDATE: TheRedshirts WON their matchup 70 - 56 and their record now stands at 3-1-0)

The New Effect lead their opposition 75 to 63. Bad news: opposition still has 2 players. Worse news: One of them is Tom Brady. That's fantasy football...a player helps you on one team kills you on the other.

(UPDATE: The New Effect lost the matchup 75 to 84 --- Record now 1 - 3 )

Over at FleaFlicker:

The Tampa Thunder trail their opposition 57 - 70. Hopes: His players are all final. High hopes: I still have Randy Moss AND TJ Houshmandzadeh to play!

(UPDATE: The Tampa Thunder soundly won their matchup 100 - 70. The redrafted team's record stands at 2 - 0)

With all players final, The Stormfront is projected to win their Matchup 76 - 57.

(No update needed as the final still stands.)

The Southland Bulls lead their opposition 65 - 47. Good news: I still have TJ Houshmandzadeh (again!) to play. Ugh news: Opposition has Carson Palmer, that's 2 teams that Palmer might burn me tonight.

(Update: The Southland Bulls Won 84 - 59, record now 1 - 0)

And that's the week 4 Matchup Monitor. Going into MNF we have 3 games out of the six listed that I have a legit shot at winning!

Carnell Willams Done For 07'

A horrible weekend for running backs owned by the FSF. Cadillac Williams in already being declared by Rotoworld as done for the season with a torn patellar tendon. Future speculation is that C. Williams might not start in 08' or even play football again.

Brian Westbrook was placed on the inactive list and the fantasy phenom known as Correll Buckhalter started for the Eagles. From what I remember last year, unless trends change, he doesn't have much fantasy value as of yet.

(Rotoworld) Joseph Addai was shaken up in the fourth quarter Sunday. It was announced that Addai suffered a "bruised" shoulder. He rushed for 136 yards and a score on 19 carries, and caught three balls for 10 yards, before leaving.

Impact: Apparently every injury a Colts player has suffered today is only a mere bruise. The Colts brought in Kenton Keith to finish out the game, and called Addai "very questionable" to return. Indy already had a big lead, so they didn't need to push him, and Addai was smiling on the sideline, so the injury didn't seem serious.

And even Lamont Jordan has a back injury that could be "serious".

The ups and downs of Fantasy Football. (Insert many colorful metaphors here...)

Flealicker Starts Fantasy Football

I'm doing more blogging then web or podcasting this week as I'm still a bit tired from my two "wonderful" days in the hospital last weekend with almost NO sleep. Give the Tampa Motormouth a chance, next week...I'll come back strong!

To Fantasy Football...easier then talking about the Devil Rays clinching last place...again...or the Mets monumental epic collapse...

I now have THREE Flea Flicker teams to replace the hapless Motormouths (Fox Sports) at 0 - 3 and the equally inept Fantasy Sharks Bay City Buccaneers also at 0 - 3.

Fleaflicker Team 1:

The Tampa Thunder is at 1 - 0...here's whom we are starting this week:

QB: Peyton Manning (duh, no brainer!)

RB1: Marion Barber (Here's hoping for another week like last one!)

RB2: Derrick Ward (not much choice as Portis is on a bye week. Here comes the fantasy point pain...)

TE: Jeremy Shockey (We'll see..has to do better then Royal or Davis in weeks 1 - 3 ...)

WR1: Randy Moss (Nuff said)

WR2: TJ Houshmandzadeh (Nuff said again.)

K: Jeff Reed (Should get lots of chances against Arizona if they choke away another lead to Pittsburgh...)

DST: Colts (We'll see...hopefully they contain Denver and don't do a Bungles and score 2 points aka like LAST freaking week...)

(More on it's way...)

It's a BULL Market In College Football!

USF won one for the ages and the best thing to do is let all the local and national coverage speak for itself. Brett McMurphy offers up a great recap , Here's ESPN's take WITH VIDEO...

Looks like the Gators have some competition in college Florida, baby! (Had to get a Dicky V pop in there since he DID get some airtime during the game)

Nice way to enjoy a Friday!

Can USF Hold On?

14 - 3 at the half in THE most important game in Bulls Football history to date. Lots of turnovers on BOTH sides...a defensive TD and a passing TD for the Bulls and one FG for WVU thus far.

Home field IS looking like an advantage, however to borrow from the football cliche' jar...there's still 30 minutes left to play.

Doesn't Anyone Want Their Division?

I mean come on...I'm trying to adopt the Cubbies as my post season team but now the lead is 2 for even though the Cubbies got swept by the Marlins (wtf?) the Brewers lost their game.

The Second team in contention for me adopting them did just as horrible...come on Mets, what is up with losing to the freaking Nationals?

Are both of you trying to avoid the post season? Come on, there has to be another choice then BoSox/Yankees and to root against them!

And the D Rays lost AGAIN to the Yanks, I think the dream of finishing fourth was the parade and that loss last night was the rain.

NFL WEEK 4 Fantasy Shark Pick Em Selections:

Baltimore Ravens -4.5
Chicago Bears -2.5
Green Bay Packers -2
Atlanta Falcons +2.5
New York Jets -3.5
Miami Dolphins -4
Dallas Cowboys -13
Seattle Seahawks -2
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -1.5
Indianapolis Colts -10
Kansas City Chiefs +12
Pittsburgh Steelers -6
Philadelphia Eagles -3
New England Patriots -7.5

Thursday, September 27, 2007

Will this be the last...

... Fantasy Sharks Bay City Buccaneers post ever for 2007? The team stands at 0 - 3. Here is my line up for week 4.

Carr, David CAR QB (With Delhomme out..it's worth a crap shoot for wk 4)

Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB ( Jones-Drew is the best option but he's on a bye week)

Pittman, Michael TBB RB (Ya roll wit' what ya got...)

Furrey, Mike DET WR (Going with an all Lions core, with Calvin bopped up a bit it's worth a shot...even though it's Chicago...)

McDonald, Shaun DET WR (Ditto.)

Franks, Bubba GBP TE ( Has to do better then Royal...)

Brown, Josh SEA PK (And will the kicker lead the points for week 4?)

Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def (Eh...better then KC's Def or the Bengals Def...)

We'll see if they get get win number one...if they go 0 - 4...we won't be talking much about this team much longer. And that pick of mine with Brees and Bulger...so how's that working out?

Big Football Weekend...

...That starts on Friday here in Tampa, folks! Friday has USF Football in their highest poll ranking ever going up against their highest poll ranked opposition ever in West Virginia at Raymond James field on Friday night! College football on Friday? That will play havoc with central Florida high school football to be sure!

Then, of course, on SUNDAY, OUR Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Carolina to see if we can punch the Panthers in the mouth (any cheerleader on cheerleader action THIS trip from the Panther cheerleaders?) and enjoy something the Bucs haven't tasted in a while...FIRST PLACE! But, we still have to win! Think about it...if the Bucs continue to play well, Atlanta continues being Atlanta, New Orleans continues to be New Orleans...we might only have the Carolina to contend with this year?

And hopefully the Gators will actually get back to their dominating ways...that scare against Ole Miss was a little too close for comfort!

ARE YOU READY...FOR SOME FOOTBALL AND WEEK 4? (At least if Drew Brees doesn't score this week...he gets a pass...THAT WAS JUST PICKED OFF!)

We Got Hosed On That Call

The post title is from the Movie Major League when the Indians announcer Harry Doyle (played by real life baseball play by play man Bob Ucker for the Twins) contested a call that went against the fictional Cleveland Indians portrayed in the movie.

Why that quote is germane is because of the Monday Night Area Evaluation contest result as I placed second --- and I KNOW that my performance was a FIRST PLACE PERFORMANCE. I wasn't alone with my feelings but hey, contests are a frustrating proposition at best beyond the club level most times. It is like the playoffs in football as you hope to get the right matchups, you remain injury free and the ball just bounces your way more then your opposition.

The GOOD part of Monday's contest was seeing some old friends, such as: Sue Boe, Frank Shea, Melissa Stephens, Paula Walker, David Tassanari, Jacqui Roe, Victora Starks and others. I met some nice new folks as well...our new division governor is indeed a gentleman and who is genuinely interested in people AND he has a sense of humor. Very refreshing, indeed! Frank, Sue and Melissa always make me feel like a million bucks, I'm going to have to pop back over to Suncoast sometime soon even with all the changes going on. Sue's target speech was an emotional heart wrencher (not easy to evaluate at all!)

I was also relaxed and focused thanks to doing a speech outline before the contest and earlier in the day studying language at Erwin's Learning Center (I found that I don't do negatives well and that whole past, present and future thing really leaves me tense...) I like this whole schedule thing...it's tiring but it beats sitting around and doing nothing.

And as it turns out I didn't miss much of a football game Monday night...though Bush had a great night, Brees bit the big one and Deuce is out for the season.

And, how can I forget? The Rays beat the Yankees last night! Another great birthday present!

Congratulations to...

The Afterburners (CBS Sportsline) NFL Division for going 2 - 1 and to the Redshirts in Yahoo FF for also going 2 - 1. Another SPECIAL congratulations to the Afterburners (CBS Sportsline) College Football division for going undefeated at 2 - 0.

Thank you for playing to the following fantasy teams...

WJMV 925am announced today that effective 9/25/07 coverage will be reduced to minimal for the following fantasy teams: Bay City Buccaneers (Fantasy Sharks) and The Motormouths (FoxSports) due to their 0 - 3 record. Not much of a chance there, ladies and germs.

Not a good NBX night

So far I have only nailed the OVER with the Nationals and Mets (Mets, what up dogs? What happened, mon?)

We'll see how Bush and Brees do...at least 2 of the five teams might be out of the winning hunt thus far!

Winning Sunday NIGHT NFL on Fan IQ!

That is correct folks, the FSJ ended up going 3 - 0 in the Cowboys/Bears game.

I picked that the Cowboys would win, The Cowboys WOULD cover the spread AND that the total would go OVER (that one was close, whew!)

Will the trend continue for MNF? How about for Monday Baseball as we close out the regular season (yes, those 162 some odd games are just about done.)

Stay tuned true believers and find out!

Programing note: due to an unforseen hospital stay this past weekend, the webcast will probably be later on this week, ditto with the podcast. Thanks for your understanding! I'm okay but I am also happy to NOT be hooked to a freaking IV anymore!

Sunday Games Final Week 3 Matchup Monitor

Yahoo:

The Pretenders still have a shot to win as they trail in their matchup 58 - 62.

Players not final: Drew Brees, Reggie Bush

Opposition's Players not final: Chris Brown - RB

(Come on Brees and Bush...it's hammer time, y'all...)

The Redshirts lead their opposition 103.50 - 79.50.

Redshirts: All Players Final

Opposition: Still to play - The Deuce from the Saints and N. Harper...DB from Ten

(Come on Saints, save for Deuce!)

TheNewEffect trail in a close one 97 - 99.

TNE: Still to play --- > Eric Johnson

Replacements: Still to play --- > Marques Colston

Bay City Buccaneers (Fantasy Sharks.com)...looks like another loss. At almost 0 - 3 not worth talking about.

With all games final, the Afterburners (CBS Sportsline) are projected to win their game 113 - 79 and be one of my first FF teams to go 2 - 1 this season! Thanks goes to T. Brady, M. Barber & D. Foster as the co - mvps.

The Motormouths (FoxSports) are more then likely going to lose and become 0 - 3. If that happens along with the Fantasy Sharks team, the coverage on them will be few and far in between.

The Tampa Thunder (Fleaflicker 1) is leading their opposition 124.15 - 59.8.

The Stormfront (Fleaflicker 2) is losing in their matchup 53 - 93. Drew Brees is still left to play...so that's 2 teams that Drew *Might* be able to help IF he can get rocking!

Teams still having a serious shot to win: 5

Teams with no shot: 3

Not bad! Going into MNF with 5 teams that actually have a chance to win is an AWESOME thing!

Fantasy Football Fast Flash

Well how about those Tampa Bay Bucs shutting down the Saint Louis Rams 24 - 3?

Enough with reality, let's get to fantasy and check around the league after most of the early games are final or approaching final.

Starting over with all teams and taking a quick stat snapshot of one player on each team:

Pretenders: Key Player so far --- Neil Rackers (3FG, 2 Pat) 14 points

The Redshirts: Brian "Questionable" Westbrook with 28 Fantasy Points (110 Rush Yards, 2 Rush TDs, 111 Rec Yards.) A lean mean fantasy machine. Someone is going to have to reach DEEP inside to beat out Westbrook for the Fantasy Player Of The Week Award. Holy super stats, batman.

The New Effect: Addai and Kitna both top this bunch at 20 Fantasy Points each. Addai's line: 72 RuYds, 2 RuTD's, 19 RecYds in the win, Kitna's Line: 446 PaYds, 2 PaTd's, 1 Int in the loss. How about the Eagles getting a college football type score?

Fantasy Sharks:

Marshawn Lynch's line: 1 RuTd, 74 RuYds, 6 Rec Yards

Fleaflicker 1:

Randy Moss: 115 RecYds, 2 RecTd 25.5 points (Plus points for length of TD catches)

Fleaflicker 2:

Steven Jackson: 115 RuYards, 18 RecYds, 30RuAtt 2, 18RecYds 1.8, 1 Lost Fum, total 14.3

Cbs Sportsline: Tom Brady - 311 PaYd, 4 PaTD (8,3,4,45), 2 RuYd, FL, 34 Points.

Wavier Wire Worries:

Caddy "Concerns": From RotoWorld.com

Cadillac Williams was replaced in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game by a combination of Earnest Graham and Michael Pittman. Williams had 12 carries for 46 yards and a TD, and a three-yard catch, before leaving.

Williams fell on his previously injured ribs in the third quarter. He looked fine on the sideline, but coach Jon Gruden let Graham and Pittman finish the Rams off, possibly as a precaution. Williams had a big third quarter drive, which left his owners with a productive fantasy day nonetheless. Sep. 23 - 3:37 pm et

Motormouth's Musings: So, is Earnest Graham a viable 3rd string handcuff to Caddy more so then Pittman?

Here we go West, again From Roto World:

Westbrook took a hit to his injured left knee and walked off the field gingerly before being looked at by the training staff. With the Eagles up three touchdowns, they can afford to be cautious with his return. Sep. 23 - 3:22 pm et

Motormouth's musings: I actually remember talking to a fellow ff fanatic at work and mentioned to him that Westbrook has a knee injury again --- my fellow ff fanatic's response: "Shocking!" He also recommended that I try out Westy on the trade block if I have any weak areas on my team with Westy. On the upside, great week for Mister Westbrook.

Watch where you put your Johnson... (From Rotoworld.com):

Calvin Johnson went up in traffic and hauled in an amazing 38-yard catch downfield, but came crashing down right on his back. He stayed down for several minutes, but left the field under his own power. Johnson was grimacing while being carted to the locker room and his return is said to be questionable. Sep. 23 - 2:15 pm et

Motormouth's Musings: GREAT! Just when CJ looks like he might give ANOTHER CJ a run for his money --- this has to happen. Worse scenario devlops...grab S. MacDonald and/or Mike Furrey if they are available in your league. If CJ's injury shelves him long enough the value of these other two Detriot WR's will go UP! Kitna puts up good FP's even in a blowout loss to Philly.

More to come later...but again, HOW ABOUT THOSE BUCCANEERS? Garcia looks like a semi good Fantasy QB? At least so far...

11 - 4 NBX MLB Night; up .98 fan points on Fan IQ

Good night for NBX, rough night on fan iq.

So how did fantasy football go for the Motormouth in week 2?

Let's first start with the final scores and studs and duds of the games and then we'll go on from there.

Yahoo Leagues:

The Contenders are lumped and (one and two) by the Teabags 121 to 103 and Chad Johnson's 32 points. Loss and 0 - 2 we'll see if they can avoid 0 - 4.

The Redshirts win thanks to a final effort by Westbrook, plus that Tom Brady is pretty good as they phaserize Chief Illiniwek 114 to 107. 1 - 1 team with the win.

TheNewEffect lose thanks to Westbrook being on the other team, 111 - 94. 1 - 1 with the loss. Also still debeating if " OMG!!!!1 " is a valid name for a fantasy team.

So yahoo leagues are still decent as only one team really is struggling. Redshirts and NewEffect are still in the mix and NewEffect is the highest scoring team in points.

Cbs Sportsline:

Another Tom Brady team did very well. The Afterburners soundly beat AZSkins 110 to 81. Besides Brady, Marion Barber had a great week, Joey Galloway was Joey Galloway and even Calvin Johnson had an decent fantasy day. Going into week 3 1 - 1 is not a bad thing.

Fox Sports:

Motormouths are having an awful 1st quarter and they are now 0 - 2. Jake Delhomme had a great day but only Clinton Portis and Calvin Johnson really contributed much of anything. The kicker, Graham, outscored my defense (Philly), my 2nd RB in the flex position (C. Brown - Ten), my TE (Scheffler) and my other WR (Fitzgerald - ARI). Even with my optimal lineup, I still would have lost as my opposition 96 to 147 --- actual lineup 83 to 112. Would have lost either way.

Fantasy Sharks:

Lost by ten and not worth really talking about. Second year in a row in Fantasy Sharks that I am 0 - 2. Looks like another wonderful season again here this year :P

To make up for the horrible starts in Fox Sports and Fantasy Sharks, I drafted a new team last night on fleaflicker and am going to pre rank players for another draft on Saturday. Can't be any worse the the FoxSports or Fantasy Sharks team, can they (here's hoping...)

The Bottom Line:

More then likely, Fox and Fantasy Sharks teams are out of it. Yahoo still has two teams in the mix but the numbers favor the NewEffect making it as opposed to TheRedshirts but you can never tell. CBS Sportsline is still in it and we'll see with fleaflicker. So far...we're still alive and doing better over all then the Kansas City Chiefs OR Notre Dame.

Fantasy Football Fallout Week 2

All games final save for the Eagles/Redskins matchup so let's go around fantasy football for the Tampa Motormouth on this Monday morning.

The Contenders (0 - 1) are projected to lose their matchup 103 - 121 as Chad Johnson on the other team (32 points) killed me. Know I know how the other owner felt last week when Plaxico Buress has his week in week 1.

The Redshirts (0 - 1) are tied in their matchup 107.5 to 107.5 as Petyton Manning had a Drew Brees type underperforming week and I still have Brian Westbrook to play tonight.

TheNewEffect (1 - 0) Are losing in their matchup by 2 and all my players are final but just as Westbrook will more then likely carry me to victory in with The Redshirts Westbrook will hurt me causing me to lose this game. That's fantasy for you!

Non yahoo leagues:

Fantasy Sharks:

The Bay City Buccaneers lose again to the River Rats 95 to 85 and will be 0 - 2. Drew Brees hurt me again but Willie Parker did very well, at least keeping it close. Looks like another tough year in the Sharks league.

Fox Sports:

It's going to take a miracle as the Motormouths are losing in a big way 112 - 63 BUT I still have Clinton Portis and the Eagles Defense to play. It will be a VERY wacky Monday night game of Running Backs as the fates with one of my teams lie with Westbrook and this team's fate (I won't hold my breath) lies with Portis. You never know when a team will score 6 touchdowns, right?

CBS Sportsline:

The Afterburners give a sonic boom to the AZSkins as they win (all players final) 112 - 81. My second Brady team kicked pigskin, Marion Barber was a stud ALSO started Galloway! Calvin Johnson & Chris Chambers has decent days. Anyone know what is up with most of the TE's sucking in the league?

3 - 0 Picks IN BASEBALL!

That is correct fellow sports fanatics...

I had a hunch that Beckett would handle the Yankees (holy crap what a turnaround from the night before) but the BoSox KILLED the Yanks tonight 10 to 1!

With the Cubs, things happened (write this day down...) exactly AS I predicted... I figured that the Cubbies would win game 1 behind Lilly's pitching but would lose game 2 with the suspect pitching (Marshall)...though the Cubs went ahead early the Cards came back!

And I even picked the Devil Rays behind a second great night of pitching (Kazmir) and tonight the bats stirred more so then in recent days as the Devil Rays bounced back and won in Sleepless In Seattle land 6 to 2.

Good day for baseball and of course FOOTBALL

Up 10.7 fan IQ Points for 9/14 baseball over at fan IQ, Devil Rays lose a close one as a sac fly in the bottom of the 9th busts Shields great pitching performance and how about the evil empire getting it done against the Bosox with THAT comeback!

The USF Bulls are off this week basking in the glory of the Auburn win

-how badly will the Gators thrash the Vols?

(How about 59 to 20...that was a spankaroo!)

-can the Cornhuskers hang with USC?

(Apparently not, as the Trojans wrapped up their business nicely and plowed the Cornhuskers 49 to 31)

And will the Fighting Irish OR the Wolverines break their losing streak today?

(Wow...Notre Dame sucks...the Wolverines slashed the Fighting Irish 38 to zilch, nadda, zippo, el nothingo AKA the big fat goosegg! )

New Virtual Housewarming!

'allo all as we are moving things over to Blogger since Yahoo drives me flipping nuts when trying to write html.
