Lightning Road Woes Continue

The Bolts drop another one on the road and a small suprise (along with Lebron biting the dust tonight --- must be that Yankees cap karma) is that my NBA scores for fan IQ are at 13 and my NHL score is at .50! We'll see what the update is tomorrow.

Wednesday Quick Wire Burst

Week 9 is killing my rosters with all the byes. I actually had to pickup Vernon Davis (shudder) to fill in and this time I AM starting Drew Brees every chance I get.

Did well in Fan Iq with Hockey but sucked with basketball, no real suprise there.

Fantasy Football Week 8 And Other Stuff...

Just like fantasy Contenders will lose their matchup by one point, my Bucs lost to the Jaguars by one point and both are now officially .500 teams. I'll be able to come back to fantasy football next year but will Coach Gruden be back if this trend keeps up?

Redshirts have a shot with a their opposition only having a DB Furgeson (Green Bay) and Donald Driver (Green Bay) and lead their opposition 125 to 86. Remember, much like a Chicago Bears attempt to come back in the fourth quarter is not a given two weeks in a row, neither is this matchup "in the bag"

The NewEffect with the talent will more then likely move up 4 - 4 and is having a dissapointing season, kind of like the Bengals.

Tampa Thunder will no longer be undefeated in a close one but will distinguish themselves better then the Dolphins in London (proving that they are horrible in two countries)

Stormfront will more then likely move to .500 but still scored more then the J-E-T-S and three points.

Southland Bulls stand a good chance to go 4 - 1 surviving Travis Henry on MNF, not quite a Colts or Patriots type lead...we'll see tonight.

The Afterburners have a shot leading 92 to 61 but again with Travis Henry on the opposition (listed as questionable) and Elam on my team to play...we'll hope that Henry has about as many points as whomever G. Holt is on the Bengals.

And the suprising Bay City Buccaneers have a chance to actually have a winning record for the first time this season leading their matchup 100 - 75 with with the oppostion having Brandon Jackson to play, this matchup will be close. The BCB have come out of nowhere, like the NY Football Giants.

Things learned this weekend in sports:

USF needs some help...

USC is human (So are the Gators)

Tom Brady and the Pats can pretty much kick just about anyone's posterior. Week 9 will be the litmus test for Brady, Moss and whomever is at the running back position.

The Buccaneers are really a .500 team with losses to the Lions and now the Jaguars with a backup QB that no one ever heard of.

The Dolphins can suck in 2 countries.

Even with the heralded return of Steven Jackson...the Rams can still lose. Which team (Dolphins or Rams) will get the 1st draft pick next year?

The Bengals suck.

The Lions are pretty good...

There is a pretty big game in Tony Town next week, not that you've heard much about it or anything.

The Red Sox are a pretty good team...not even the Indians or Rockies could stop them as they are now (like it or not) World Champions for 2007.

Week 8 Fantasy Football (and real football too...)

Good news, good news from my FanIQ predictions yesterday. I went 17 - 7 for College Football, 6 - 6 in Hockey (it's better then going 1 - 4) 0 - 1 with the World Series (The Rockies at least tried...) and in one fantasy football league I'm taking a roll of the dice that Derek Anderson is going to score big. I'm taking the Red Sox tonight...4 - 0 sweep in the WS is not unheard of with the BoSox getting it done last night AWAY from Fenway Park last night.

Some Fantasy starts that I'm keeping track of today:

The Redshirts (6-1, #2 In League):

Will Tom Brady have a good a day against the suprising defensively minded Redskins after blasting the fish in Maimi?

We're going with Galloway Vs. Jaguars, Calvin Johnson Vs. Bears, and the newest Charger, Chris Chambers against Houston and whomever is going to be at QB.

For running backs it's also a gamble with Brian Westbrook and Marshawn Lynch (The Jets suck).

For The Tampa Thunder (5 - 0, Redraft team) It's Peyton "PR" Manning at QB, Portis and Graham (yes, that Graham from Tampa) at RB, Moss and TJ at WR, Shockey TE, Brown K and Colts as the DST.

Good Old Hockey Game #1

Yesterday the ol' FSF went 1 - 4 with my NHL picks. Let's see how horrible I can be today :P

(All odds at NBX.com, NBX Classic fantasy betting lines)

I'm Taking the +105 Sharks, -176 Penguins, +166 Canadians, +165 Rangers, -101 Hurricanes, -148 Senators, -105 Bruins (because they are at home, Flyers are also -105 in this pick em matchup), -148 Lightning (GO BOLTS!), +126 Stinking Panthers, -154 Blackhawks, -160 Blues, +151 Oilers for the heck of it, -154 Stars

Total: 5 Underdogs, 7 favorites, 1 Pick Em Even Odds Game

Go USF Bulls and hope all Florida teams do well today on College Football Saturday!

BoSox lead 2 - 0, Lightning finally rebound and win against Caps

It was a pitchers duel for game 2 and now the BoSox are leaving the safe confines of Fenway. We'll see how they do in the home run derby of baseball parks. I'm taking the over for the next two games.

And the Bolts jumped in quickly last night in the first period and hung on to win as Tampa edges up to an 8 - 5 record.

And remember, when dressing up for a masquerade, disguise the limit!

Motormouth Minute

After fantasy football fanatics everywhere scrambled on the waiver wire for Jessie Chatman...it was time to see if the Rockies could rock one red hot Josh Beckett. Apparently Beckett is a man on a mission as the BoSox pounded and pummeled the Rockies 13 - 1. Beckett's very impressive line for game one: 7.0 6 1 1 1 9 0 1.29 while the Rockies pretty much went through their bullpen during the Red Sox batting practice. This does not bode well for the Rockies as a tired bullpen will be facing Manny and Ortiz again for game 2 (plus the forty million other Red Sox that are able to crush the longball). This World Series main storyline will be a tired Rockies bullpen being pasted by the Red Sox offense.

And this time, I did NOT pick against Beckett. Out of the MLB WBSC 2007? Yes. Pick against Beckett again? Heck, no.

Hopefully, the Bucs can rebound against freshly slaughtered Jaguar team thanks to the Colts. (Dear Jags, we know it sucks to go up against the Colts. Signed, The Bucs Defense.) Peyton Manning probably has about 3 more tv ads to shoot before they rip apart the Panthers (um, go Colts in this case...the um was on purpose...)

And that was your Motormouth Minute...we now return you to your regularly scheduled day of insanity and mayhem.

Week 7 FINAL Results

Yahoo Games

The Contenders are losing their matchup 67 - 77. Brees, Bush and Roddy White all stepped up while Shaun Alexander was a dissapointment and might have cost me the matchup. I doubt TE Lewis will get 12 points tonight.

(Contenders LOST their matchup and yeah...how about ONE point...)

TheRedshirts WON their matchup 138 - 94. Hard league scoring wise but with Brady on the team and a few others carrying their weight, enough said.

The New Effect Won 94 to 89, thank you Joesph Addai!

Fleaflicker Teams

Tampa Thunder Won 150 to 108 and is now 5 - 0!

Stormfront Won 94 to 60!

The Southland Bulls tried to come back but not enough as they lose 139 to 73.

Yahoo Leagues Week 7: 2 - 1

Fleaflicker Leagues Week 7: 2 - 1

Bay City Buccaneers actually WIN 76 to 55 and are tied for 2, if you can believe THAT!

The Afterburners also won 125 to 90!

Total fantasy football record for week 7: 6 - 2!

We'll break everything down in posts ahead...here's hoping your fantasy fallout was just as good!

Cleveland's Curse

I did not realize how bad the curse of Cleveland is...from Wikipedia:

Main article: Curse of Rocky Colavito
There is an alleged curse on the city of Cleveland, Ohio that prevents them from winning a major sports championship. To this date, it has been arguably the biggest sports championship drought in any U.S. city. The last Cleveland title came in 1964 when the Browns won the NFL Championship, before that game was known as the Superbowl. The Cleveland Indians last won the World Series in 1948 and the Cleveland Cavaliers have never won the NBA Finals, most recently losing in 2007 to the San Antonio Spurs (See "The Sweep," below). Some of their most infamous failures have been dubbed a title, often with a single word preceded by an ominous "The." Amongst locals and even sports fans in general, The Catch, The Drive, The Shot, The Fumble, and The Sweep all evoke images of Cleveland sports futility. Less famous outside of Cleveland, Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, is commonly referred as The Error. Red Right 88 does not share the nomenclature, but the heartache is the same. Only time will tell if the 2007 ALCS will be reduced to the name of "The Stop Sign" in Cleveland folklore due to Kenny Lofton being held up at third base when he likely would have scored the tying run in the late innings of Game 7.

Cleveland's misery is so detailed, that in 2004, ESPN named Cleveland the most tortured sports city.[4]

The cause for Cleveland's misery is not 100% agreed upon, although some trace it to either Rocky Colavito's departure to the Detroit Tigers in 1960, or Jim Brown's stunning retirement from the NFL in 1965 to produce the World War II film The Dirty Dozen.

Bloggers Note: That game seven breaking the curse for Cleveland didn't work out so well. Talk about some major pain, ouch!

Week 7 Preliminary Results

With all games other then (penalities suck) Monday Night Final (good job fumbling in the Red Zone, Bucs) here's how week 7 panned out.

Yahoo Games

The Contenders are losing their matchup 67 - 77. Brees, Bush and Roddy White all stepped up while Shaun Alexander was a dissapointment and might have cost me the matchup. I doubt TE Lewis will get 12 points tonight.

TheRedshirts are leading their matchup 138 - 79. hard league scoring wise but with Brady on the team and a few others carrying their weight, enough said.

The New Effect is losing 84 to 89 BUT Joesph Addai is still to play.

Fleaflicker Teams

Tampa Thunder leads their matchup 116 - 108 with Manning and Keith left to play.

Stormfront leads their matchup 72 to 46. Intersting matchup for MNF though...I have Keith and Vinatieri, opposition has Jones-Drew and Keading.

The Southland Bulls are getting spanked 49 - 127. So unless Addai and Keith get 100,000 points tonight, I'm probably not going to win this one...just a guess.

Shaun Alexander is getting less studly each week for fantasy football folks.

BoSox Assualt/Addai and Keith V Jags/Bucs Busts Or Burst Outs?

Just a quick blogging blast here as the Indians are asking on this Sunday morning...what the (bleep) was that? Naturally, I had a feeling that the game was over in the first inning after that grand slam from the most unlikely of Red Sox in the bottom of the first, J.D. Drew. Final smackdown, er, score...12 - 2. I can see the conversation with a certain Indian fan tomorrow...

Me: What happened last night?

Them: We still have one more game.

Ah, well. On to maybe (hope not) another Red Sox comeback, bleh.

On to football...the biggest question tomorrow (besides is Drew Brees back and how badly do the Dolphins really suck?) is how will the Addai/Keith combo perform against the very suprising Jags? One of the biggest braincramps suffered by fantasy owners this week is who will get the more snaps and if it is 50/50 for Addai/Keith...whom do you start? One team I'm actually starting BOTH...so we'll see how that goes.

On to the Bucs...all we can hope is for a miracle from the defense...Jeff Garcia to continue being Jeff Garcia and a low scoring game so the Bucs can pull something out of somewhere yet again! The Bucs are not a score 48 points like a team fron Boston area can do.

And finally as a bonus question...will TO actually do more ON the field then OFF the field this week? Probably not...and I'm saying that even against Maimi he'll have one or two dropped passes that are key.

May all you picks and fantasy matchups work out right (unless, of course, you are playing against me this week!)

Stay Crazy!

Bye, bye NBX 2007 WBSC/USF

My mind said don't bet against Josh Beckett. Actually, I belive my mind SCREAMED don't bet against Josh Beckett. So what did I do? I bet against Josh Beckett. I bet EVERYTHING, all 300,000 plus some odd points, that somehow the Indians hitters could figure out and hit Beckett. After looking at the final score from yesterday, we all know how that gambit went.

So Sammy Morris is out for a month for about 4 of my fantasy teams and there goes the MLB WBSC for 2007. I'm still cheering for the Indians unless they let the Red Sox come back from a 3 - 1 lead. If the BoSox some manage to win this series, I'll just have to start cheering for the Colorado Rockies. Yes, there is a baseball team in Colorado.

The other dissapointment last night was the end of USF's chances at a BCS National Championship. Close game and yes, that one touchdown being called back was the play of the game. They lost by only 2 points, but they still lost. Watch for USF to sink in the polls and drop like a rock. I'm still cheering for green and gold to win the Big East outright.

On and Looney on FSR, that USF is full of bull crack wasn't funny. I usually like your quips...but that one...bleh.

NBX MLB WBSC/Morris Ouch

That's right it is all up to the Indians outwitting a tired Josh Beckett and both pitchers are up on the mound after short rest. This is the second time I will be going "all in" and all my fantasy sports betting championship hopes for this round ride on the Cleveland Indians sweeping the Boston Red Sox tonight! Hopefully, Big Papi won't have a big home run and Manny will be kept silent (in more ways then one, hopefully). 300,000 some odd points all rest tonight on game 5 of the ALCS!

Fantasy football players every where recieved some bummer news this week as dependable stud fill in back Sammy Morris of the Patriots will be out at least a month. Time to either hope that Foster gets something going in Carolina, Marion Barber gets off the schnide in Dallas or ditto for Rudi Johnson. Either that or N. Davenport of the Steelers is going to be very popular all of a sudden...or maybe even *shudder* Earnest Graham of the Bucs.

Anyone remember Ladell Betts nice run for a couple of weeks last season?

Every team but Afterburners can win

That is correct, fellow fantasy fanatics! Every single team (even the Fantasy Sharks team!!!) other then my Afterburners team actually have a shot to win this week. We'll fill you in tomorrow...

Also in college fantasy football my one team (Afterburners, college division) won their match-up 209 - 170. Player of the game, Colt McCoy (4 PaTD, 298 PaYd, 2 RuTD, 104 RuYd)

Thankfully, my opposition played the Florida Gators as their DST...and they were on a bye week, oops.

Worst part was haring that sleeper stud Sammy Morris left with a chest injury in yesterdays game with the Cowboys (How about them...NOT!)

Key Fantasy Players Week 6

Plaxico Buress: Listed as Questionable, going up a weak Altanta team, can he continue to produce even with his ankle injury?

Verdict: 97 ReYd, ReTD (43), another WR1 (maybe WR2 in some leagues depending on the scoring system) type performance! Only threat is his injury and ongoing "Questionable" status every week...the Westbrook syndrome.

Joey Galloway: Is he a good start as Garcia's only viable WR option and how badly will the banged up backs syndrome hit the Buccaneers today?

Verdict: Probably could have done better, maybe a WR3 this week...but got yards and a TD.

TO: The battle of the 81's...will we really need our popcorn or will Moss blow by TO with the stats? I also think two undefeated teams are going at it today...not that you've heard much about that or anything.

Verdict: Sadly also a WR 3, 66 yards and a TD is getting on the board but not popcorn worthy. Pssst, TO...your team lost dude!

Tom Brady: Is Dallas the first real challenge for the Patriots this year? Can Brady do it again? Which genius didn't schedule this game for Sunday or Monday night football?

Verdict: Tom Brady is a scoring machine, 388 yards, 5 TD's...holy crap! MVP of the week again!

T. J. Houshmandzadeh: Can the Bengals get their heads out of their butts and get over themselves?

Verdict: WR1 land back again TJ! 145 Yards and 2 TD's! Nice 42 yard catch btw, TJ! The Bengals still lost...but at least the offense was working again!

Drew Brees: Is there any hope for Brees or the Saints this season, any hope at all?

Verdict: Hope springs eternal! 246 yards, 2 TD's and you get the win! Nice to have you back Mister Brees! Please, can this Drew Brees hang around?

Edge: Can he recapture some of his Indy glory against a banged up Carolina team that actually signed Vinny Testaverde?

Verdict: At least he scored decently but RB2 land this week with 80 yards and a TD. Maybe not LT numbers but this is the first week LT has been LT in 2007 also.

USF WINS AGAIN!

USF demolished, destroyed and decimated the UCF Knights (it obviously wasn't their day) 62 - 12 at Raymond James Stadium!

ATS Picks For Week 6 in the NFL

Cincinnati Bengals -3
Houston Texans +6.5
Cleveland Browns -4.5
Minnesota Vikings +5.5
Philadelphia Eagles -2.5
Baltimore Ravens -10
Tennessee Titans +3
Washington Redskins +3
Arizona Cardinals -3.5
New England Patriots -4
Oakland Raiders +10
Seattle Seahawks -6.5
New York Giants -3.5

Apparently, I am not the only one frustrated with how this fantasy football season is headed; that Drew Brees pick at QB is doing wonders with at least two of my teams :P

And am I the only Buccaneer fan really worried that Earnest Graham is our starting back this week with Williams out for the season and Pittman shelved for quite a while?

First major suspension of 2007 for NHL...

Hope that Philadelphia Flyers forward Jesse Boulerice
isn't on your fantasy Hockey team...looks like his "style" (I use that term loosely) of cross checking just earned him a vacation of 25 games courtesy of the NHL.

(I submitted a short link/write up for Fan IQ on this story and it was made a featured link for the day!)

ALCS: Indians Must Split 1st Pair

Just a quick prediction regarding the Tribe (now my official team of choice) they must split at least one of the two first match-ups against Beckett and Schilling. Look where getting down 0 - 2 got the Yankees. That is the key factor of this series. If the Tribe does not split, they the Sox take the series in six or seven games. The other secondary note is that if the Tribe can't pound the heck out of Dice K's ERA...then it's most likely going to be the BoSox moving on.

Thought for the day: When someone actually is nice and helps you out, at least thank them.

3 Teams still in the mix

Week 5 is here and the Bay City Buccaneers (Sharks) , The Motormouths (Fox) & The New Effect are in the cellar.

The Stormfront, AfterBurners and The Contenders are in the mix and have a shot but things need to bounce their way.

The Redshirts, Tampa Thunder and The Southland Bulls stand atop the FSF's fantasy pack. We'll update with more specifics next post, so our teams specific future, unlike Joe Torre's, won't be in doubt. Major props to Byrd and the Indians for Ousting the Yanks and having the right moves and not the Wang Moves.

Blog Changes

I've added some widgets to turn this into a virtual sports hangout. There's a guestbook to say hi (be nice, it's moderated) an NFL sports standings widget to either cringe or celebrate based on how your team is doing, fantasy hockey news, baseball playoff results (thanks for nothing, Cubbies, after I adopt you for this playoff season. Not even making it out of the first round...bleh. Here's hoping someone OTHER then the Yankees or BoSox win!) and sports stories from all sports just to round out my hangout on the web!

GO USF! Let's bounce back BUCS! Here we go Lightning, here we go! (And Rays...spend some freaking money and get some pitching...THANK YOU!)

Myspace...

In case you popped over hear to find out why I'm taking down the Myspace page, it's just because of life going in a different direction. I'll still be blogging endlessly about sports here. I'm also scaling back the podcast and might do the Youtube websast every once in a while. Email me (in about me) if you want to know more!

1st day of MLB Playoffs...And He's not a pearl...

And my adopted playoff team, the Cubbies, are down 0 - 1 in the NLDS. Why Pinella pulled "Z" at 85 pitches, we just shrug our shoulders.

And the Phillies now down 0 - 1 also got a little of the wind suck out of their sails.

At least the Red Sox won with a dominating performance by John Beckett. My NBX MLB WBSC first day was, of course, 1 - 2 with fantasy sports betting. The BoSox winning put me back close to where I started.

And moving to fantasy football quickly...for all those like me that jumped at Alvin Pearlman (the 3rd string RB after Maurice Morris on the Seahawks) - so how's that working out? Not well appearently...as the RB was just placed on Injured Reserve.

Hope you haven't "reclaimed" your girlfriend's car from a impound lot recently...and even an 8 hour course can turn Michael Vick into an animal lover...at least according to PETA.

Another day of fighting for truth, justice and pulling your own weight!

(Editors Addition: Hey Lou, if the Cubbies keep playing like THIS...there will not be a game 4 to save the "Z" for!!!)

Week 4 Matchup Monitor

The Pretenders (1 - 2) are trailing their opposition 47 to 48. Good news: I still have Sammy Morris (NE RB) to play. Bad news: Opposition has Carson Palmer.

(The .500tenders WON a close matchup 65 - 59, Their record now stands at 2 - 2)

The Redshirts trail their oppostion 50 - 56. Good news: I still have Tom Brady to play. Better news: All of the oppositions players are FINAL! We might have a shot at this one!

(UPDATE: TheRedshirts WON their matchup 70 - 56 and their record now stands at 3-1-0)

The New Effect lead their opposition 75 to 63. Bad news: opposition still has 2 players. Worse news: One of them is Tom Brady. That's fantasy football...a player helps you on one team kills you on the other.

(UPDATE: The New Effect lost the matchup 75 to 84 --- Record now 1 - 3 )

Over at FleaFlicker:

The Tampa Thunder trail their opposition 57 - 70. Hopes: His players are all final. High hopes: I still have Randy Moss AND TJ Houshmandzadeh to play!

(UPDATE: The Tampa Thunder soundly won their matchup 100 - 70. The redrafted team's record stands at 2 - 0)

With all players final, The Stormfront is projected to win their Matchup 76 - 57.

(No update needed as the final still stands.)

The Southland Bulls lead their opposition 65 - 47. Good news: I still have TJ Houshmandzadeh (again!) to play. Ugh news: Opposition has Carson Palmer, that's 2 teams that Palmer might burn me tonight.

(Update: The Southland Bulls Won 84 - 59, record now 1 - 0)

And that's the week 4 Matchup Monitor. Going into MNF we have 3 games out of the six listed that I have a legit shot at winning!
