Yes, it's May and not September...but the Rays blogosphere is alive with celebration. The Rays are defending The Trop. First it was the improbable first historic sweep of the Red Sox at the Trop. Then the Rays salvaged a 4 - 5 road trip (including winning one of the road series) then back to the Trop and sweeping the Angels and now winning against Pettite (doable but still impressive) but then the truly amazing last night - beating the best pitcher on the Yankees staff, Chien-Ming Wang.
We're in first place in the AL East. It bears repeating, for all us Rays fans out there. For all of the blown leads we have suffered through, all the times the bats were silent, all the base running errors and the fielding goofs and the umpire bad calls.
It's not going to the playoffs but for this franchise, it's a watershed moment. This time last year...the Rays were basically mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. We all remember, it was THAT bad.
So who else besides the Fantasy Sports Fanatic is stoked about these Rays? Let's see...shall we?
